SOVIET AIRMAIL ROUTE MOSCOW - ROSTOV - TIKHOREVSK - SOCHI : EXPRESS MAIL TO RESORT TOWN ON BLACK SEA
Moscow 1938 (31 August) - Domestic Registered Express Airmail envelope with Soviet Definitives 20k green (3) and their Postal Stationery counterpart 20k, making up a 80k franking (tariff of 15 May 1932 for Express Inland mail). Sent to the Black Sea resort town of Sochi via the ROSTOV - TIKHOREVSK- SOCHI air route. Special C (Spechnoye) label and boxed AVIA applied on departure. Arrival Sochi two days later 2 September 1938. An attractive combination franking, Very Fine.
A scarce combination of Airmail/Express on that particular Western Russia Air Route. The segment Tikhorevsk-Sochi was opened in 1929, branching out from the Moscow-Rostov air route. After the halt at Sochi, it went further to Sukhumi and Batumi.
