SOVIET TEMPORARY POSTMARK: 1939 MOSCOW ALL UNION AGRICULTURAL FAIR "BCXB"
Moscow 1939 (8 August) - Domestic local envelope franked with Agricultural Fair 10k lilac rose and 20k dark blue (tariff of 6 February 1939 for a domestic letter: 30k although here it should be innercity at 15k), cancelled with the special TEMPORARY POSTMARK of the All union Agricultural Fair "MOSCOW 9.8.39 BCXB" (∅ 25mm). Early use of the stamps, issued a few days before. Superb and rare illustrated envelope from the exhibition. Arrival on back same day. Very Fine.
Very uncommon item. This temporary postmark was not recorded by Vovin in his 1960s listing.

Note: the All Union Agricultural Exhibition opened on 1st August 1939 north of Moscow, not far from the village of Ostankino. With over 200 buildings set on 600 acres of land, the 1939 Fair celebrated both the achievements of Soviet agriculture as well as brotherhood of the people of the USSR.
