MAXIME CITERNE
I have been involved in stamps since 1986. My initial fervor in Russian philately (including prephilately and Zemstvo) has over the years expanded to all Classic World Issues.
Besides being a dealer, I am also working as a professional philatelist for the international auction group Global Philatelic Network and, in particular, for Heinrich Köhler in Wiesbaden, the oldest auction house in Germany, which provides some of the highest standard in the whole stamp industry.

The convergence of a strong interest in the field of expertising and the mentorship of Mr Huylmans led me to pass successfully the rigorous examination of the German Association of Philatelic Experts (BPP) for the test area Classic Russia 1858-1875.
.
I am married and father of two children, a boy and a girl. On a side note, after having studied Chinese pharmacology both in China and Europe, I also maintain a side activity as an alternative health care specialist in a private clinic.

OUR PHILATELIC STORY
1930s - The family´s philatelic story begins with Gabriel Citerne (1901-1981). Invited to visit the Soviet Union as early as in the 1930s, during one of those trips an official at the postal museum in Leningrad gave Gabriel a cut-out from a sheet of Russia´s first imperforated stamp watermarked "1" paper. It was the catalyst of what was to become a lifelong passion.

Picture below: a family tradition, with Gabriel Citerne (first from left) during a stamp-talk by Michel Liphschutz RDP in the 1960s.
1950/60s - Gabriel becomes the first president of the French Cercle Philatélique France-URSS (1952) and a founding member of the Association Internationale des Journalistes Philatélique (AIJP, 1962). Editor in Chief and publisher of three specialised catalogues (1956, 1964 & 1969), with famous co-authors Serge Rockling (Romeko) and Michel Liphschutz RDP.
1980s - Following my grandfather´s footsteps, I started collecting at age 10, exhibiting some inflation postal history in my small hometown at age 14. My oldest son Victor is now collecting the first issue of the German Empire on covers (the infamous 1872 Brustschild), and together we are keeping the strong family tradition well alive.
