SOVIET AIRMAIL TRANS-SIBERIAN ROUTE: VLADIVOSTOK - IRKUTSK - MOSCOW
Anuchino, Primorsky Krai region 1933 (October) - Domestic Express airmail envelope sent to Moscow, via the TRANS-SIBERIAN IRKUTSK - VLADIVOSTOK segment. The combination of 5k & 15k (5) Soviet Definitives are paying the correct 80k Express airmail rate (tariff of 15 May 1932). Arrival on the back Moscow 24 October 1933. Envelope teared at right during opening.
From Anuchino (small administrative centre located located on the right bank of the Arsenyevka River), the mail was carried by surface until Vladivostok, where it was transmtitted West via airmail. The route was the second segment of the Trans-Siberian opened in the end of 1932 between Vladivostok and Irkutsk, the first segment being from Irkutsk until Sverdlovsk (opened in 1929). Total travel to Moscow 8850 km.
Very scarce airmail route w/ an exceptional origin. Another cover from the same correspondance is reported by Ackerman (p.256, fig. 14.6).
