USSR Diplomatic Pouch 1941 to Peru via Washington - Rare route

SOVIET UNION 1941 - DIPLOMATIC POUCH COVER TO PERU via WASHINGTON

Soviet Union via Washington 1941 (February) - Envelope to PERU, South America, sent via DIPLOMATIC POUCH MAIL, correctly franked with a Soviet "Day of Sport & Body Culture" 50k (tariff of 1st May 1936). Stamp cancelled on transit in WASHINGTON as per regulation, then mail forwarded to Peru, transit and arrival postmarks on reverse 20 March 1941. Light horizontal fold on the envelope, Very Fine.

Very scarce example of a Diplomatic Pouch Mail (which had to be franked with an adhesive of the departure country), most of the covers recorded are addressed to USA, Peru is an exceptionnally rare destination.
